Firespring became the first company in Nebraska to achieve Certified B Corporation status in July 2014. Becoming a B Corp introduced Firespring to a community of like-minded businesses from diverse industries, countries and cultures. B Corps are companies that advocate, educate and inspire—each other and the world—to do better. Firespring proudly carries the flag for this community of leaders as we work together toward a single, unifying goal: using business as a force for good.
As a Member of the UN Global Compact, Firespring believes that people with disabilities have an inherent right to access and participate in society on equal terms. People with disabilities should have equal access to the physical environment, transportation, information and communications. Firespring commits to building and maintaining accessible products, enabling our clients to provide equal access to information, products and services.
Our commitment aligns with the accessibility goals of the international community. When building and maintaining our products, Firespring follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1 Level AA. Our goal is to ensure products meet accessibility guidelines before clients have access to new products or updates. Products built by Firespring are evaluated at multiple milestones for accessibility considerations, and our development processes enable early changes to improve accessibility. Critical accessibility issues are prioritized into our development cycle and remediated as they are found and reported.
Our certified team members offer expert guidance and best practices to improve web accessibility. We also have a dedicated team that meets monthly to identify and address new accessibility ideas and concerns.
While we take significant steps toward achieving compliance, accessibility standards are interpreted and enforced differently by various entities. We will work to address known issues and improve accessibility, but full compliance may depend on ongoing monitoring and updates.
Accessibility also requires a collaborative effort. We strive to offer the best tools available, and we understand that their effective use is crucial. That is why we provide training, information and personalized reviews of client sites to support their accessibility efforts.
