Nonprofit Storytelling Workshop
October 22, 2026 2:00 pm
Storytelling is 22 times more memorable than facts and figures — and 56% of nonprofit followers say they’ll take action, usually a donation, after reading a story that actually moves them. So if your organization is still leading with statistics and program descriptions, you’re leaving a lot on the table. Our storytelling webinar has always been one of our most popular sessions, and now we’ve built it into something bigger: a hands-on, half-day workshop where you don’t just learn the theory — you leave with an actual story, built during the session, ready to use.

We’ll cover:

  • Why storytelling matters — the seven business benefits, including the ones that win over your most numbers-driven board members
  • Brand voice and tone — the consistent personality that has to sit underneath every story you tell
  • Four proven narrative frameworks: Freytag’s Pyramid, the Hero’s Journey, the Pixar “story spine,” and the StoryBrand model
  • The seven elements every great nonprofit story needs: a hook, a protagonist, emotion, a villain (yes, even nonprofits have one — it’s usually the problem itself), logic, a guide, and a hero with a clear call to action

Then we put it to work. Through guided exercises, you’ll:

  • Identify where your best stories are already hiding — founders, the people you serve, donors, volunteers, staff, sponsors, community impact
  • Choose a real protagonist from your own organization
  • Build that story out using the framework that fits it best, with feedback in the room as you go
  • Draft your organization’s StoryBrand one-liner — the simple problem/solution/result pitch you can use anywhere from a donor meeting to a backyard barbecue

You’ll leave with:

  • A real, finished story from your own organization, built during the workshop — not a template to finish later
  • Your organization’s brand voice and tone defined, if you haven’t already
  • A one-liner you can use to explain your work clearly in under 15 seconds
  • A repeatable process for finding, collecting and sharing stories going forward
  • Twelve practical ways to strengthen every story you tell after this workshop ends

This is a live, interactive format — come ready to work. Bring a real impact story, donor relationship or program you’d like to build into your organization’s next great story.
