What if your next job was more than just a “job?” What if you could get paid to learn the ropes of a dynamic industry that could lead to a rewarding career?

Even better, what if you were working for a company that cared so much about its employees having fun at work that there was a giant slide at headquarters?

If this all sounds up your alley, consider becoming an Apprentice at Firespring.

What is Firespring?

Firespring is one of the Midwest’s top commercial printing and communications companies. We also specialize in marketing and website design.

On our print production floor, skilled technicians operate state-of-the-art, precision machinery and use ink and paper to bring commercial printing projects of all shapes and sizes to life. From the printed signage you see in the real world to the colorful mailers you receive in the mailbox, it all starts with highly skilled team members who’ve mastered the art of print manufacturing  at Firespring.

What is the Apprenticeship Program?

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of opportunity knocking.

At Firespring, we’re on a mission to train the next generation of print industry professionals. That means we need fresh faces to come to work in our print shop and learn the tricks of the trade.

As a paid Apprentice, you’ll learn from the best of the best, picking up skills that will make you career-ready in an industry that will be in demand for decades to come. You’ll learn things like:

  • How to maintain and operate state-of-the-art printing presses, signage machines and other cutting-edge equipment in our production warehouse.
  • Manufacturing skills.
  • Project and time management alongside other professional skills.
  • Packaging, distribution, shipping, pricing and other business concepts.

In other words, you’ll get paid to level up your job and career readiness in multiple industries—even if you decide print isn’t your passion. And if you do see a future in ink, you may even have the opportunity to sign on for a full-time gig at Firespring.

What are the details?

Firespring Apprentices will work part-time (20-30 hours per week) at our print production facilities in Lincoln or Omaha, Nebraska.

Working side-by-side with experienced pros (you could call them ink and paper artists), you’ll explore the wide world of print while gaining real-world experience in a modern manufacturing setting.

We’re seeking high school seniors or people with some college experience. (But don’t worry, we’ll really consider anyone). All work hours will be completed between 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday—so you must be able to balance work and school as needed.

No experience is required. We’ll provide all the on-the-job training you need to succeed in the print industry.

We’re looking for team players and, above all, people excited to learn.

Joining the Firespring team

What really makes Firespring stand out as a great place to work? It’s gotta be the company culture.

At Firespring, you’re more than just an employee—you’re part of a team that puts Having Each Other’s Backs, Giving a Shit and Bringing It Every Day at the center of our values.

Whether it’s the annual Chili Cookoff, March Madness Tournament or Family Bowling Night, our famous Culture Club Events are just some of the ways we make work about more than just the daily grind.

Spotlight: 2024 Firespring Apprentices

In December 2023, Nichole Hansen and Laz Hundley became the first-ever members of the Firespring Apprentice Program.

An artist who enjoys painting (and loves her cat, Bubba), Nichole wanted to know more about Firespring and how the print industry operates. She enjoyed her time as an Apprentice, saying, “I would recommend the Apprenticeship Program because you gain a lot of hands-on experience and learn skills you wouldn’t learn anywhere else.”

An avid golfer, Laz Hundley plans to start his own business someday. Being a Firespring Apprentice taught him a lot about warehousing and distribution. “I really want to do a clothing business. Learning how to ship and handle all those orders was really valuable. The people here are awesome, too. You learn a lot. They’re very welcoming and great teachers.”

Congratulations, Nichole and Laz!
